Why I’m Running for Prosecutor
I’m running for Clinton County Prosecutor because I’m deeply committed to the community that raised me. As a lifelong resident of Clinton County, I’ve seen firsthand what makes this area such a special place to live, work, and raise a family. I want to continue protecting our community and ensuring it remains a safe and welcoming environment for all.
With nearly ten years of experience prosecuting criminal cases, I’ve developed a clear understanding of the law and the importance of justice, efficiency, and fairness. I’ve spent my career in the Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office, where I’ve worked tirelessly for our community’s safety and well-being. But beyond the courtroom, my dedication to service extends to my involvement in local boards and committees, including my role as past president of the United Way of Clinton County.
This is more than just a job to me—it’s a calling. I want to serve the people of Clinton County with integrity, compassion, and a commitment to making our community a better place. As your Prosecutor, I’ll bring experience, passion, and a love for Clinton County to the role, ensuring justice is served while prioritizing the safety and prosperity of every person in our county.
About Chris Vawter
Chris Vawter is a proud native of Clinton County with nearly a decade of experience in criminal law. A 2006 graduate of Clinton Central High School, Chris has spent his life serving the community that raised him. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Wabash College in 2010, followed by his law degree from Indiana University’s Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2016.
Chris began his legal career in 2013 as a clerk in the Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office and transitioned to Deputy Prosecutor in 2016. Over the past ten years, he has built a strong track record of prosecuting criminal cases with an emphasis on justice, efficiency, and community well-being. His approach to law is rooted in his belief that the people of Clinton County deserve a prosecutor who will protect their rights while fostering a safe, vibrant place to live, work, and raise a family.
Outside of his professional career, Chris has dedicated himself to giving back to the community. He served as the past president of the United Way of Clinton County and has been actively involved in various local boards and committees. He is also a member of the F3 workout group, an active participant in high school sports officiating, and a member of Michigantown United Methodist Church.
Chris lives in Frankfort with his wife, Taylor Crenshaw, and their dog, Axl. Together, they share a love for traveling, enjoying the outdoors, and supporting the growth and well-being of Clinton County. As Clinton County Prosecutor, Chris is committed to upholding the law, ensuring justice for all, and making the county a better place for future generations.
